transmission problems

i was driving home today in my dmax with a edge attitude chip in #5 extreme mode. i stepped on the gas but didnt floor it. and speed up to about 70 then let off the gas. shortly after the check engine light came then shortly after that the engine started bogging and i could only accelerate to about 60 then the engine would feel like it wasnt getting any fuel and it would slow down then the transmission would downshift slowing me down even more. Any ideas to what the problem might be( is this limp home mode?) i went home disconnected the battery and now its back to normal.

Change fuel filter 1st.Then try it out..

I felt my trans shutter the other day,I don't know if it slipped or not cause I was at a light and took off quick to smoke out a eclipse,at this intersection is a nasty pothole,so hopefully that is what I felt because I did let off throttle fast,it didn't limp,but it did feel like a harder shift than what I was used to.FYI..too much hp on stock tranny go boom....I been thinking about a road trip to that shop that does the rebuilds in one day,if I ever need to replace mine

Sounds like the fuel filter to me.

thanks i will replace the filter which makes sense, i ran about two tanks worth of mexican diesel in it over the last couple of weeks and it was only ran through a low quality filter before hand. any suggestions on tranny upgrades( torque converter, bully dog shift enhancer kit?)

The cheapest upgrade that really helps the 5 speed is the full transgo kit. The bad part about that is the tranny must be fully removed in order to install. IMO if you are gonna go that far you might as well do a suncoast stage III kit, but the transgo with a good T/C will hold a good bit of power.

im on the west coast and i dont know of a trustworthy shop for a full trans rebuild but any idea of how much itll cost

im moving to phoenix az in a month if anyone knows of a god shop near there, im gunna be a full time student so a place thats close would be nice, thanks for all the helpp

Mike L at Inglewood transmission is the best allison guy anywhere. He is from Fullerton CA, i don't know how far that is from you but it would be worth the trip.

You had an engine limp(2000rpm limit), not a tranny limp(stuck in one gear until shut off). If fuel filter does not work, you'll need to shim the fuel pressure relief valve. This is a very common problem with the LLY and a tuner.
