clicking popping white smoke (check engine)

I have a 2006 duramax with the predator computer. My check engine light has came on and I am getting smoke from the truck. It is black smoke until I here some poping the I get a puff of white smoke. I do not have the original computer but was thinking of putting one in before I took it in for service. Any suggetsions or help would be great.

the black smoke and popping almost sounds like an injector that went out but the white smoke is almost like head gaskets

Is the Predator a computer or a tuner?? If its a tuner you can just plug it back in and return it to the stock tune

i guess it is the tuner, 8 inch by 6 inch, by 1 inch silver box with predator on the top (is it a ECM)

It is not an Ecm it is a programmer. Turn the truck off and plug the tuner into the OBD port under the dash on the drivers side. Plug it in and follow the instructions on the tuner. It will go thru a series of screens and it should give you the option of returning to stock. Select this and follow all instructions.

it does not plug into the obd, it is inside the engine compartment, it is a reprogramed ecm

More than likely it is. You can look on Ebay nd see if you cannot pick up a Stock ecm it may be cheaper than a new injector. Last I heard they were Around to 800 a piece.

after i put the new one in is there anyway the dealer can tell it had been there

I have heard that after the LLY they can tell on you but I cannot be sure. I would plead the fifth if asked, if they dont ask dont tell

it is a LLY so am I ok then
