Just got my new to me 06 LBZ and I have a new love!
My question deals with the EGR blocker and I want to know if I can go ahead and install it without a programmer. The truck is FE9 standards. I do plan to get a PPE programmer, but would really like to stop "choking" with bad air.
Has anyone done this with an FE9 and if so, were any codes or lights thrown at all?
The only mods I have done are re-route the PCV and open up the stock air box.
Future mods planned are exhaust, PPE and gauges. I will keep the programming pretty mild, at least that is my intent!

You can do the egr blocker. You might get a p0401 and p0404 code after doing it, but more than likely won't have a SES light. If you do it will only be from time to time and will clear itself after a couple key cycles. Once you get the PPE programmer it will block the code from coming back up.

Thanks guys. I have been lurking on this forum for a while and have learned a great deal. Still learning.
I installed the EGR blocker and my check light (the little picture of the engine) promptly lit up. Don't know codes as I don't have anything to read them.
My PPE standard arrives on Wednesday and I am hoping that I can reset things at that time.
I am considering exhaust options now and am leaning toward Turbo back, or I guess more correctly, down tube back over the cat back. Any thoughts pro or con would be appreciated. I do wonder how long it will be before the gestEPA nazi's implement a program of inspections.

Your CEL should just be the EGR codes. Once you load the PPE it will block them from coming back. The dowpipe back exhaust is the best performance option for you and since you have a PPE coming you don't have to worry about the codes that it can cause.

I am not a racer, but will tow a 5th wheel (8000 lbs) on occasion. Other than that, I am just looking for a little better fuel economy and slight performance gain.
I suppose I will occasionally goose it a little so my truck won't loose respect for me. After all, thoroughbreds are made to run.

I'm waiting for my parts to arrive, and as soon as they do......my CAT is gone and my EGR will be blocked! I hope it makes a noticeable difference and gains me at least 1 MPG.

Thanks for the responses. My exhaust is here and I'm going to put it on today.
Anyone have any tips for the install? It looks pretty straight forward, but it's nice to hear from those who have travelled the path before.
I don't have a lift, so I am assuming that I will have to cut the exhauast near the cat.
How about it, any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Jack up the front of the truck to get the cat out easier. Also there is a trans bracket you should remove, and pull the cat out toward the front of the truck. Also jack up the rear to get tail section out easier.
