New to me. Upgrade?

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and to the diesel way of life. Just bought a 2005 gmc 2500hd duramax cc 4x4 with a slight, 315/75/16 tires on stock wheels. I've noticed about 12 mpg driving mostly around town. What is an easy upgrade that can increase mpg and towing power? Is the straight exhaust pipe a good option?

tuner, intake, exhaust, small tires any of those will definetly help. Smaller tires for sure, if its not lifted too much to make it look stupid

PPE Programmer, AFE stage 2 Intake, 4" or 5" straight pipe and you should see around 15-18mpg in town. Id also suggest either Fabtech Tie Rods or tie rod sleeves...

btw welcome to the Forum.

i would also like to add Gauges..... boost and pryo is what youll need before installing any tuner on your truck...

i would also agree with Nemo on the PPE, afe stage 2 or S&B intake and a 4" TB exhaust

315s on stock rims arent very safe. Thats a starting point.

A simple 4" downpipe back exhaust will be a good investment. These are also called turbo back on our trucks.

The intake isnt necessary but if you must have one S&B is a very good instake with tons of reasearch to back it up.

But nothing outperforms the stocker.

You will also want to block and stick the EGR.

A Pyrometer gauge is a must and a boost is a good invesment and fun to watch.

I too like the PPE programmer but if you want to spend some time learning EFI is the end to all.

265 or 285 tires would help a lot. But like everyone else stated a 4" turbo back, PPE standard tuner, and guages would help.

I have to agree with everyone as well. Look at everyones signatures below the post and that will give you a real good idea. When it comes time to purchase feel free to ask questions about certain brands.
