The viper car alarm has a diesel remote start kit, do you guys recommend this? The dude yesterday thats installing it told me he didnt want to rush it because it could "burn up" my motor...is this true? What would/could happen if things went wrong? The last thing I want to deal with is that...I dont need a remote start but it would be cool to have. Thanks guys!
I don't understand why he said it would burn up anything. I had mine installed within 2 hours of wanting one and have only had a couple stupid problems with it. Sometimes when I hit the unlock button, it won't find a signal and beep. But that's just minor crap that happens with every remote keyless entry. I'll just tell you that I have a Viper, I like mine, I love the turbo timer built into it, they have a LIFETIME warranty, and the company that sells and installs them here is considered the most expensive top notch place you can go, so they know what their talking about.....I would do it again! And also...you said you don't need one but it would be cool.....trust me...after you get one...no more sitting in the truck waiting for it to warm up....no more sitting in the truck waiting for it to cool down....IT'S AMAZING.

**OFF TOPIC**
Do you have to let a diesel warm up? I heard that all you need to see is the oil pressure go up and you can take off...and that if you do let it warm up the EGI (or something like that) can get dirty? or exhaust can back up? or something wired I can't remember...Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it!!
It is always best to let it warm up. Everyone has their own prefered warm up time. I WILL NOT hop in my truck start it then leave! I always let it warm up at least 10 minutes.
nOuseforaname, what model alrm do you have? I like the cool down feature, plus the warm up part is not bad either.

I have the 571XV. I was going to spend extra money on the one with the display, but was told it's worthless for the cost difference. And as for the warm up, you should always let your diesel warm up before take off. And some people say that it's bad to let them idle....but you have to understand that for our trucks, and how long we let them idle....it doesn't hurt them....its when you have big rigs that sit and idle for 4 to 5 hours at a time is when it can cause problems. Plus it also depends on your truck...I know a guy who has an 05 Cummins with 87,000+ miles and has only changed his Oil and Fuel filter once...and his truck get's around 18 city 22 hwy hand calculated and has never had an issue.

Viper alarms are the best out there, if it is installed right they will last forever. I had one on my 95 chevy took off that put it on my 99 then put it on my 04 and decided not to put it on my 08 cause i want a new model. I am getting the Viper LE it is a 2way paging system with a very slim line remote. It has remote start alarm and turbo timmer and delay start for desiel. If you have any questions i can help with all car audio. Oh ya for a good viper alarm remote start installed dont pay more then 800.00
