Is it possible to have my truck converted to a dually to increase my tow rating? Is there anything else that would need to be done to increase my tow rating other than adding dual wheels and a 1 ton rated axle? If so, would you recommend it?

How much more weight do you want to be able to tow? You could always just add a leaf or use airbags. If you are wanting the extra stability of a dually then yes you can covert. Chevy/GMC dual wheel conversion kits with wheels

just bolting on 2 more wheels, bigger springs and fenders doesnt change the rating of the rear end i might be wrong but a dually has a bigger heaver axle than a 3/4ton or a 1 ton

Ya Id say if you want a bigger tow rating you add air bags to help out. Id say the only real difference between a dually and a SRA is there are more leafs in the rear. Air bags will help stifin the ride. The other downfall is. I think EXT cab ac CC cab trucks are rated to tow a little more because they weigh more.
All in all I dont think it will be worth it to try and make a dually

^^x2 on that....there is a couple trucks around here that the owners have done a dually conversion to their 2500, it doesent look the same as a factory dually....actually it sticks out like a sore thumb..ive only ever seen this done on fords though, so i dont know what it would look like on a chevy, but my guess is it probebly wouldnt look any better....ur best bet is to get either helper springs or airbags, and that will be all the added support u should need

I saw a guy driving around here with a dually conversion on an old 60s Chevy, and it actually looked pretty good. If I was going to do one, I would probably put on a flatbed or a utility bed designed for a dually, not a stock dually bed off a 1 ton...of course that's partly because I personally have a short bed. And a dually conversion may look odd on a short bed.

all of the trucks that ive ever seen with the conversion, the fendor's are evidently part of the kit, idk, but anyway they all looked real goofy lookin

I was only asking because in the future I expect to purchase a 5th wheel and tow a boat behind it. My truck is only a 3/4 ton right now. I'm thinking a 8000-10000 lb 5th wheel with a 4000 lb boat behind it. Does this sound realistic?
