Well my truck doesn't have any heavy duty bumper and i rear ended someone at about 15 mph and my bumper was completly wrecked. The air bags did not deploy.

there are recent posts of people not getting their products, and I know he started I know...I know the whole story...and I know he is doing to his customers with AP what RA is doing to theirs.....the issues aren't resolved...
FabFours, Iron Bull, Buckstop, ARB and Ranchhand are THE ONLY bumpers worth buying...the customer service and the quality is there and you will actually recieve your product
I dont think you will have a issue i talked to jim terry one day for over a hour, and believe what he says, no i havent bought so cant give to much insight but i dont think you have either. So if he wanting a bumper he can call Jim and he could have bumper delievred then pay.

In order for th airbag to deploy you have to hit somebody hard. The bumper would stand no chance with several thousand #s smashing into something. On another note you wouldn't what the airbag to deploy in less you really need it. The airbags themselfs can hurt you.

I'm not in the market for a new bumper and I'm not trying to sway anyone in buying one product over another, this is JMHO. I would never consider either Road Armor or Alien Patrol if I was in the market for a set of heavy duty bumpers. The bumpers themselves look awesome and seem well thought out on the other hand their has been more than 1 nightmare story about undelivered products, threats of lawsuits, and out and out knock down drag out fights over multiple internet forums. There always seems to be 1 or 2 individuals that show up to defend Jim Terry and to tell everyone how well they were treated and that they just talked to Terry and his is working to resolve the issue(s). He's always working to resolve the issues. A word of advice to anyone looking at buying not only a bumper but any product, do some research on not only the product but the company itself. If you want some more information on either Road Armor or Alien Patrol or if you just like drama go to pirate4x4 their is a very interesting thread detailing the whole ugly mess.
I think if I am not mistaken, there is a sensor that only deploys if it’s either 15 or 20 MPH or above. I have seen many different types of accidents with different vehicles and every manufacture is different. We just recently had an accident in my area that involved a Jeep Cherokee with a heavy duty bumper and a winch that was driving about 25 to 30 MPH and T-Boned a truck and neither bags deployed.

Well since this thread isn't about who screwed who...
I would think that it wouldn't matter if you had a battleship for a bumper, or no bumper at all, as long as the sensors picked up a big enough shock, they should trigger the bags. I don't know for sure, but this is what my common sense is telling me.
Road Armor and Alien Patrol require cutting of the frame on the Chevy and GMC, by doing this you affect how the sensors recieve the impact. That in istself makes the bumper non-airbag approved. I agree this thread could go on and on for days and weeks with the arguement, and I also agree there are 1 or 2 people with the same story always to defend these companies.....In my research I don't look for bad I look for good...but the same story all the tiime and the same things happening all the time is just a little to much a of coincidence for me.......I read forums and see people happy with FabFours while they are overpriced, I see Iron Bull get good reviews, and a good price (I do have a little biased opinion), I see Buckstop get good reviews and I see RanchHand get good reviews.....the only problem with the last two is they are all about function AND NOT style, while the 1st two are about both function AND style.
