I've been dreaming for a long time of doing a d-max in a 78 T/A body shell I have sitting behind the shop, with a full chromoly tube frame... conveniently the car is originally a 6.6L TA :-)

That would work,does it have T-tops?The rims on my Malibu come from a anniversary edition T/A [GM ''snowflake''] 15x 8inch aluminum alloy...

No, its a hardtop car. I'd originally planned to put a twin turbo BBC in it, but now I decided to build the hell out of my other 78 TA street car, so its getting a 650 hp NA motor with a 250 shot of the giggle gas on top, with a 4l80e, and a 9" 4 link rear setup.

I saw a little snippet in one of the magazines about a guy putting a Dmax in a 71 Chevelle drag car... google around a little bit, I'm sure you can find something on it.
I really like those late model Malibus, I almost picked up a 79 model a couple of years ago that had a 350/350 with a 12 bolt. I was shoulders deep in a new motor for my TA at that point (seems familiar...hmm...)so I passed, but I really like those cars!
