Used oil for fuel

I was talking to a friend about using used motor oil mixed with gas and running it for fuel in my truck. I know the oil would have to be filtered and I think it was 1gal of gas to 7gal of oil. I didn't know if anyone knew of someone running this in a duramax. I have a 05 lly. This would be great since I could get free used oil any info would be great. Thanks

Mixing with gas do you mean diesel or regular unleaded?

I've heard of older diesels running on this combo, but I'm not sure how the high pressure injectors would like it. Is it really worth the risk? Why not just run the fuel that was meant to be in the truck. You don't want to have to replace the injectors, pump or worse the engine.

Some of the guys doing the 4 cylinder Cummins swap have tried this. Along with the older 6.2 group.
It needs to be warmed up and then filtered pretty well (down to 3 or 4 microns). Maybe more with the ash residue.
Like the french fry oil crowd, some of them run a separate heated tank & switch over when the everything gets up to temp.

Paul's right, though. With a free supply of oil . . . just add a garage to the house & heat it for no cost with a boiler.
