Guys I live in West Central Ill. and around here in the summer they have Bio diesel and in winter they switch to 80-20 blend with as fussy as I've read the injectors are on these trucks do I need to use a fuel lubricate if I'm usin the bio diesel? I have an LML. I should run Bio if available correct cuz of the lubrication properties of it? Or avoid it completely? I just ordered some Optilube XPD.
I say if u do use Bio u dont need to add any fuel additive unless its an anti gel additive to help aid fuel from gelling. I avoid bio. I used the max 5% on my LMM & truck ran worse. Even after I changed the fuel filter & ran a few more tank fulls of B5. I just stick with straight Diesel fuel & my fuel additive/cetane boost.
I know one place I fill at does Bio spring to fall, and other I need to ask but I think they use straight diesel year round. My manual says if ya run ulsd then switch to Bio 20 you might have more frequent filter changes for a while due to like varnish build up and stuff from runnin ulsd which theres nothing wrong with but the Bio cleans better I guess.
