Very informative, thanks! ... On that note though.. Wouldn't the sulfur content merely make it a higher level of fuel lubrication? And would a cetaine booster not suffice? Thanks in advance.

Im no expert, but I believe the issue with higher sulphur and 2007-Present trucks is it will clog the diesel particulate filter. In pre-2007 I don't think there is a big issue. The cetane will probably be normal is just not guaranteed to be the same spec as on-road diesel. Of course, this whole discussion ignores the fact that running dyed fuel in your on road truck is illegal.

Up north, home heating oil is red dyed ultra low sulfur diesel. Chemically the same as pump diesel and legally the same as offroad fuel. In some parts of the nation, we can still get higher sulfur diesel as heating oil.

High sulfur in an 05 would bring it to life if anything. Off road in 07 was still high sulfur when I got my truck and wow the milage and ass it had. This new fuel kills it along with lots of weight and tires.

So what's the final answer from someone who actually runs heating oil or kerosene? I have my dpf deleted.
