thanks guys for all the good bad and ugly experiences... In the end all you can do is get as much experiences as you can to make the best decision thats right for your situation. For me even though my truck is lifted and its wearing KM II mud grips... The tires practically never see dirt. I am going to ponder all the responses for a bit before I make a decision. Thanks again.

fumoto valve

If you get one I like using the one with the nipple on it, cause you can stick that straight into an empty gallon jug left over from the last oil change. Works great for me. good luck

Yeah I include a safety clip and 2' piece of tubing with my kit so you can just direct the tubing into a catch can of your choice and forget about it.

how much effort is required to open the valve? Is the safety fool proof so that it cant vibrate open and drain your oil accidentally? I have been looking at these also... thanks

Do they make the Femco plug for duramax's? A femco doesnt really stick out like the ball valve type and would make for a much better quick drain. A femco plug will drain out a C-15 fairly quick so slow draining isnt an issue with these things.

Femco is another option but you can't put the 2' section of tubing on it to direct the flow of oil to a catch can or other area like you can with a Fumoto valve with a nipple and the tubing. I wanted to be able to 100% control the flow of the oil so the Fumoto is the way I went.

The valve handle sits in a slot that will not allow it to move then when you add the safety clip I supply. It is immpossible to open without removing the safety clip.

To open the valve you lift the handle out of the slot (after removing the safety clip) and turn 1/4 turn and its open.

Ahhhhhhh.....What! The only way you can drain a femco plug is with the hose adapter, you can get straight or 90 degree drain hoses for them so I dont see how you cant control where the oil goes. The Fumoto ones with the valve handle deal kinda suck because anyone could just walk up to your truck and dump your oil on you. The big valve is easier to get knocked off.

My appologies not knowing how the Femco works I did not know that.

As far as someone opening my Fumoto..........I have never had anybody walk up to my truck climb on the ground slide under the truck and then try and open my Fumoto valve with a safety clip on it. If I caught them they would NEVER use their nuts again because I would have already cut them off and thrown them into the bushes for the mice to eat while I am looking down on them but fair point none the less.

Nobody would even be able to open it a valve with a safety clip on it unless they had a pair of channellocks and 10 minutes for someone that doesn't know how to take the clip off or spring clip pliers and try take off the clip. Its an art to take the safety clip off and put back on these valves properly.
