Who uses fuel additives?

All of the threads regarding fuel additives are old. What is everyone doing now that ULSD has been out for a while?
Anyone seen any problems using hte ULSD and lack of lubricity?
Thinking about adding something to the fuel in my 07 Dmax LLZ as it sits for periods of time not being used.
Thanks, Richard

I am going to use the Stanadyne performance additive in my new truck. I have done a lot of reading on this product, emailed the rep and I believe the claimed 7% mileage increase is fairly accurate. It is more expensive than some additives but with the crazy high cost of diesel fuel, a 7 % increase will pay for itself. Stanadyne makes diesel injectors, I trust them to make the right additive. All the new low sulphur diesel fuels have lubricity products added but only time will tell if they will make the new engines last the way reg fuel made the older diesel engines last. To me it is cheap insurance.

This is the best fuel additive, I have tried them all and am most happy with this....

If you want to improve that DMax mileage and clean out the engine and not have to see so many of those passive or active regens or the EGR plugging up and making the engine dirty.

Then you should try this stuff out (Ethos) Ethos Fuel Reformulator

I have been using it for 3-months now and seen my mileage in town go from 14.8 to just over 18mpg and on the freeway I am up to 25-27mph depending on if I run 70-80mph. Running with the 8k trailer I was getting just over 14mpg even going over an 6% grade. Truck runs even smoother and sounds better.

Very very cool stuff, I had to run almost a full bottle the first treatment then after that you just do the recommended amount per size of your fuel tank. It's a little spendy and isn't always easy to find a reseller ($40-50$ per 32oz that will treat 300gal)

I really didn't do it for the mileage increase I did it for the lubricity and fact that it keeps the regens to a minimum and the EGR deposit build up down. The best up side is that the engine temp and EGT stay down pulling long steep hills.

I saw a decrease in the EGT by 200 and the engine by 40 degrees. I also added to my tranny, diffs, and transfercase. The tranny temp went from 199 degrees on a 6% with 8k down to 149 degrees.

Next is the engine oil.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like it is worth it for the long haul to use some fuel conditioner.
