Delo or Rotella

I hate to rehash an old topic but I am undecided which of these two dino oils I am going to use in my 08 LMM.
I am going to do an oil change as soon as I get the Fumitomo valve from ebay. I have decided on the GMC oil filter as my dealer is offering a decent price.
I have used Delo 400 for 12 years in my last 3 Navistars,
two great 7.3s and my last dud, the infamous sick-oh,
but now I am hearing that Rotella may be better.
What do you guys think and please no synthetic pushing, for now I am only interested in Delo or Rotella. Thanks.

Hello from Australia, Big White D-Max....

Look, I am not up on the current values possibly... But with 20 years on Commercial Fishing boats and Yachts all over the world, I have seen Diesel Gen sets run near continuous 30,000 hours.... And the difference between Delo 400 and Rotella is ZIP, zero, nada.... Just don't extend the life between oil changes as far as you can, that is about 10 times more important than the distance between Delo 400 and Rotella. I would not worry about which one I used as much as change interval and availability locally...

Cheers from Oz...b

Now 5000 on my new 08 LMM Silverado... Pull out drawer system, Gull wing canopy over, Quadzilla, soon to delete DPF, winch and Bull bar, Pro-Comp Extreme Mud Terrain...
Running hard on the last Frontier in Oz...

Lone ranger, Thanks for the info. I was hoping to hear that because for me Delo is more available. I was lucky enough to spend 6 months in your wonderful country back in 1970.
Sure some great looking women down there and the beer is great. I worked in a big brewery in Sydney and had a ball. Take care.

Buck, synthetic is great stuff but Dino will make this truck live for as long as I own it and I don't feel it's worth the extra money so the next owner get's a truck with a wee bit less engine wear. I know I won't get 1 cent extra on a trade or private sale for having spent hundreds extra on synthetic. IMHO.

Delo all the way, just to answer your question. Or another great dino 15w-40 that has the "CJ-4" API rating is made by Mobil. It costs the same as Delo. It's "Delvac Elilte" and "Delvac 1300 max."

If you don't want to spend the money on the full synthetics, why not try to extend your oil change intervals and go with Mobil Delvac 1300 or their semi synthetic "Delvac Elite."

As for me, you can see my Avitar picture. I use the Mobil DELVAC-1 full synthetic 5w-40. With oil analysis, I plan on going as farrrrrrrrrrrr as i can with the synthetic in my LMM.

I do know that the new CJ-4 rated oils that are mandatory in the LMM's are crap. The "TBN" number is lower than the older CI-Plus oil due to cleaner emissions stuff.

Oh well. I hope to get at least 25K miles before my next oil change with the synthetic Mobil Delvac stuff.
