Transmission Fluid

Looking to change my transmission fluid and filter. It's turning pink and about time for it to be done (right?).

Going with an allison filter.

What is the preferred over the counter (this should weed out you Amsoil guys) oil for the allison and how many quarts? Truck is an LB7.

Sounds good. 7.4 quarts I read with pan drop, new spin on and no flush, correct?

How often do I need to do this?

If you are removing AMSOIL Torque Drive from your list and looking for over the counter I would find an Allison dealer and get Castrol Transynd. It is what Allison recommends for their transmissions.

Just my two cents.

Take care,

What kind of price difference is that between say $8.99/quart Mobil 1 ATF, Transynd and Amsoil?

Mobil 1 is $71.92 + tax.
Amsoil is _____ shipped

zip is 32608

Fill in the blank for me. PM me if needed.

Thanks.

Fluid passes paper towel test, barely has changed color. Want to do spin on though. How do I do that? Crank the old one off and spin a new one on or fill the new one with fluid then spin it on?

youll lose about 8 oz of fluid IIRC. Pull the spin on, make sure you get the magnet off and clean it really good. Put it back on with the new spin on filter. BTW the magnet will break very easy, so dont drop it
