When did Diesel become more expensive then premium gasoline?

I can remember not long ago diesel fuel was cheaper then premium gasoline, even close to regular unleaded... What happened, and when exactly did the price of diesel jump over all gasoline?? Gasoline takes a couple additional steps more then diesel to refine, so what exactly justifies the additional cost? Is just various federal, state and local governments taxing the hell out of diesel because they know the truckers have no choice but to pay the outragous costs?

Anyone know what happened and when?

It went up for two reasons.

1. The switch to ULSD
2. We ship 65% of the Diesel we refine to China. So now you know who is more important to our government....
