Well, I was planning on doing exactly this same mod since buying my truck. It will happen as soon as the weather breaks! And not just to have more screws and a smaller space to deal with, but because I have running boards that capture the wheel wells. The wheel wells cannot be removed without removing the front running board fasteners.
This is an excellent idea and he is to be commended. I work at GM and wish our engineers would frequent some of these web sites to get a better grasp of customer needs, requirements and plain old fashioned desires.
Ok that is a good point.
I wasn't knocking his install, just expressing weather its really worth it to some...
I am looking at relocating my entire filter mount/pump, for ease of access, it would be quite simple. I'll post pics and write up when done.
great idea w/ door mod, I replaced my push pins w/ licens plate incerts and screws . lookes stock and the lg pan head screws hold every thing in place. now just unscerw and remove. if you do this there are two or three sizes , get the large that has 4 tab s for the hole not two, the small ones will spin.
good idea for access to fuel filter, changed mine yesterday , while the panel was out I replaced the push pins w/ license plate insert and screws. there are two sizes, use lg ones, they have 4 sides that go thru hole not 2 and will not spin. The lg pan head screws hold every thing and looks stock
