DIY Single Stack?

I am gonna try putting a stack in that I can take in or out if I want. Prolly keep it on for most of the summer for racing and pulling, then put it out the back again.

Anyone have any pics underneath there truck with a stack? Any tips that would help? Can I just take apart my exhaust right before the muffler and run flex pipe or a curved pipe going up?? How do I know where to cut the hole in the box? What do you cut the hole with? A hole saw?

My buddy works at Perterbuilt and can get me a 4 foot 7" chrome miter cut stack for $250. Is this a good price? Is there a kit I can buy that would be cheaper?

MMLMM I know you do this with your truck, help me out

Thanks for any help,
Mike

you can get a stack cheaper.

You need about 12" of flex pipe, some good band clamps, and a 90° elbow and then an adapter to the size you want the stack.

mine is a 5" magnaflow front pipe, then a 12" piece of flext to kick it over where the stack is, then a 90 and then a 5" stack. (the stack was a 5" with 4" inlet, be we cut that off).

Yup, we did have to cut Mikes mid pipe back to give the flex enough room to put the stack where he wanted it. We used a 6" hole saw for the hole, after setting the stack where we wanted it, marking it, and then maneuvered the under bed piping to fit the hole.

You maneuver under the bed to make it fit the hole??

I cut a hole right in line with my exhaust, bought a reducer, 90 degree elbow, 4 band clamps, and made a box to put in the bed which brought the stack to the passenger side of my bed, and i can switch my stack back to my regular exhaust in about a half hour

I think it'd be narley to have some sort of T in the exhaust with some sort of electric valve to redirect it into the stack for pullin and racing, then flick a switch and then blow it out the rear end for crusing and that so you dont have all that drone.

Was pondering the idea, was gonna make them 5' higher then the cab though if I went that route. Be pretty costly though huh?

How did you connect the mid pipe then when you put out the back again after you cut some out of it.

they do make a 5 inch electric exhaust cutout, it uses a butterfly valve powered by a small actuator, kinda spend though
