Question Transfer Case Anti-rub Plate Installation

I just purchased three Pump Rub Prevention Plates from Kennedy; one for me and two for my buddies Z71s.

I could really use some advice on the best/easiest way to drop the Transfer Case. The plate install seems straight forward, as described by Kennedy Diesel.

I am unsure as to how to disconnect the drive shaft from the U-joint, or if that is even necessary?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Nope, just disconnect the drive shaft from the rear end, and slide the drive shaft out.

How do you disconnect the drive shaft from the rear-end? I am guessing you mean the rear diff? How do you disconnect it?

Thanks K9! It seems almost too easy; then again most of the advice I have gotten starts with "easy," yet I ALWAYS find a way to make it difficult.

I really appreciate the super-quick reply!

So here is what I am expecting after I drain the Transfer Case:

1. Remove Frame Cross-Member below Drive Shaft

2. Disconnect Drive Shaft at Rear Diff.

3. Unbolt Transfer Case from Tranny.

4. Drop Transfer Case.

5. Crack open Transfer Case

6. Remove Pump/Internals.

7. Install Anti-Wear Plate.

8. Re-Install Pump and Internals.

9. Put everything back like I found it!

Is it really this EASY? Where will it suck most?

not trying to sound like a asshole but if you need to ask how to take the drive shaft out , i really cannot see you splitting the case and installing everything properly.

i recommend if you are able to get the t case out to take it to someone that knows them.

I appreciate that Duckman, thank you. I do not consider myself a mechanic, though I do most of the work on our two diesel trucks. I really cannot afford to pay my local wrench to do this.

I have successfully replaced the Front Axle Seal, Hydro Boost, and done all scheduled maintenance. Kennedy has some pretty detailed instructions on how to crack the TC and to install their part, so I think I gotta take a crack at it. I will probably do my buddy's truck first though!
