Good write up! Nice pics! While I my self, like psyco66, use diesel to lube the seals. Its the fuel FILTER so if any of the grease comes off it ends up in the filter. Not busting your bubble. To each his own! My question is, however, is that the snap-on WIF sensor wrench or if some other brand? Where can i get one of my own? I have boogered the snot out of my sensor with an adjustable because i was way to lazy to find the right tool!

Personally I like the idea of using Teflon tape on any threaded fitting. I find it ensures a perfect seal with less torque required for the same result.

Nice catch regarding the yellow vs. white tape. I'll have to keep that in mind. Unlike the grease controversy, I think the tape is a no brainer.

Nice write-up.
Thanks!

Question Why fix if not broke???

grease or teflon were not intended, the o-ring is the seal,o-rings are really good at sealing hydraulic components, they can hold insane amounts of pressure!!.The plastic and o-ring set up do not require an insane amount of tightening, jus snug.I would hate to replace fuel system components knowing I put something there that didn't need to be..JMHO

that's correct. putting tape on a non-tapered thread with o-ring seal, is like wearing water proof boots in the dessert.

When I install a filter I try to just put enough pressure on it so it will seal. IMO it makes it easier to get off.I do not condone the use of teflon but with any fuel system you are looking at the possibility of getting debris from the tape into your fuel injectors. If you insist on using the tape then make sure it does not extend past the end of the male threads. As far as type of tape I do not think it really matters because the fuel filter will not be on there long enough to be an issue.

I was able to find all the parts except that special WIF sensor wrench. Any leads on getting that tool online... I tried a few autoparts stores with no success...May just have to give it a go with an adjustible wrench i guess?

I don't have the tool, and never had a prob, channel locks,or a big adjustable will do well,it does not have to be real tight,I only put mine hand tight with a ol rag,and never had it leak. The o-rings do pretty well
