Makes perfect sense! I get my new HB in next week. I'll try to take some pictures.
I like pics too.

Replaced my Hydroboost this weekend. No more leaks. Easy project, 1 hour max including flush from your post.
I got it on ebay from kraus7477 for only $124 ($140 total after shipping). Just FYI. He has a lot of parts at really cheap prices. Don't know if booster was brand new (like he said it was) but the brakes feel better and no more leaks.

After I replaced my booster, I flushed the system with service pro power steering fluid. I got a whole case for free (sorry, can't tell my source). It is probably some of the cheapest fluid you can buy. The old fluid that I flushed out did not look burnt or anything, but I flushed it anyway.

I think the goal isnt to have old, burnt, dirty fluid to begin with.

Every engine oil change, I change the P/S oil too.

Suck out oil fluid, pour in new fluid ( about 1.5 quarts)

Takes 2 minutes...tops.

Done.

You will never have a P/S pump failure following this maintenance schedule.

Cost: $4 every 10k miles.....

Cheap.

Yeah Hookem you should try the Amsoil Full Syn PS fluid next time you flush the HB unit. Its a 16oz bottle 6.95 retail 5.20 wholesale. If you want to try it I will ship it to you and you only pay 5.20 + the tax I paid when I bought it no shipping chg. Now I have to go do that and see how nice my steering and braking are.

Thank you for the write up it is well done. I love pictures too, I did a write up on changing the clutch basket on a Yamaha YZ450F on one of my moto sites and included mucho pictures. It probably added 2 hrs to the project but came out great.

Thanks, I may, that's still over $10/qt. That's the price of Purple at retail and DexVI is less than $7, and has many more additives than PS fluid. They need to come down on the price.

I cant believe how much money gets thrown away on this site.

The P/S system has zero filtration, and doesnt get too hot.

Why would you ever pay for th extended drain capibilities of a synthetic, when scheduled servicing is the only way to take care of it properly.

Theres WAY too many sheep on this board.

What makes you think that because anybody use a synthetic they are doing it for extended drain capabilities?

There are far more important reasons to use a synthetic oil than extended drain intervals.
