Mastercraft + Duramax (Project started)

With growing interest in marinizing the popular 6.6 Duramax diesel. Dmaxstore has begun a new project. We will be installing a LMM Duramax diesel into a single prop Mastercraft X-80. This project will help us bring new Duramax marinizing products to market.

Installing a Duramax into a V Drive Mastercraft will require a ton of R&D and will not be completed in a hurry. We would greatly appreciate advise and input from our members with expertise in the boat industry. Thank you in advance to our friends at PPE and Gale Banks as well as anyone with input or assistance during this project.

Boat Details:

Mastercraft X-80 single prop

Current motor GM Indmar 8.1 big block

Just picked up the boat and making sure there are no suprises. She had been in storage for several years. So far everything is looking good, just needing more power and better fuel economy

Well, since I've wanted to re-power for a while, I think I'll watch this close enough. I'll rock a diesel in the boat to get away from the Ethanol problems.

Talk to the guys at Michigan props. They'll hook it up with the right pitch/size to handle the torque

Compounds will work great on the water too. Look at the new MTUs the 2500's have 3 turbos stacked right up. My uncles boat has twin 2500's in it and Michigan props had to custom make props for it. He was pulling the blades apart.

The boat currently has a 4 blade prop installed by the previous owner. Not sure the pitch. The 8.1 EFI motor in it now has 450hp and runs around 4-5k rpms. Its a pretty big hull so the Dmax torque will help big time. We will be able to fill the 90 gallon tank with offroad diesel and should double or tripple the economy. Also we will be exploring a 2 speed V drive? lots of research to be done.

This one's badass... i'd love to do it to my boat -it would have to get better fuel economy than what it does now
