Wrist pins? re-build??

Can anyone tell me if it is feasible to do a rebuild on my LLY.... I think I have a broken/cracked wrist pin, or cracked piston.. Not sure, but have a really bad knock on right-- passenger side.... I can get a used engine with less than 40 thousand miles for under 5 grand..... What is the cost to fix?? Ballpark?

It would be more likely a piston before a wrist pin.

i'm in the process to rebuild a LB7 short block(you could use it for your LLY short block),had to line bore, sleeve 1 cylinder and all new pistons with all new bearings..i'll prob have around $4,000 in that motor with the heads rebuilt also..not as much as most would think.

also i should mention you'll prob remove the head and discover that 1 of the pistons is laying in the oil pan..seen it way to often.
if your gonna rebuild the motor do it right the 1st time, have the crank, rods, and all the lifters check for cracks or abnormal shapes(couldnt think of a better term).if the rods are all good i would reuse those and do new pistons, wrist pins, all new bearings and push rods and make sure that the block is free of any foriegn particles before assembly..dont ask why i stress that..

Like James said I think you can do it for less then 5k. I am going to start buying parts for my mild motor build that will around 800-900hp and I am figuring right around 10k. Minus whatever I can sell all my unused stock motor parts for.
