Power Steering Problem

I just recently had my gear box, idler and pitman arms all replaced in Dec. I have put maybe 7k on it since then. Just two weeks ago I switched out my Power Booster and everything was good.

One day I get home from work and there is a puddle of PS fluid under the truck. I had just done the PS flush that is in the DIY section here on the forum the same time I replaced the booster.

The only place that I could find that it came from was out of the cap on the PS pump. I checked the fluid and it was good. I took it for a test drive and it seemed to be good.

About a week later I was out driving it and noticed that it was very hard to turn. I could go about 1/4 of a turn and then it took everything that I had to turn it anymore.

I figured the only thing it could be that I had left to replace was the PS pump. So I replaced that last night with a re-man and I bled the system and I am still having the same problem. It wont turn unless I am moving. I took the cap off the power steering pump and had my buddy crank the wheel while I was watching the resevior and I can barely see any fluid or air bubbles moving around inside the pump.

Shouldn't it have more pressure than that? I am taking the reman back tonight and getting an OE from the stealership. Hopefully that will work.

Any other ideas what it might be?

Thanks

Anyone know where the post is? Do you have to switch out the valve or can you just buy the whole unit.

I found the post and it is an Escalade valve. Can I just replace my bad PS pump valve with this one or do I need to buy a new PS pump then replace the valve?

Well replaced the power steering pump again last night with the ACdelco part and still the same.

Does anyone else that is running 37's have the same prob? I can only turn the wheel 1/4 of a turn the tires just barely move and then it's like trying to turn it with the truck not even running?

I have 305's and have the same issue, I am on my 3rd GM pump in the past month. It seems to work for a day or two then the hard turning issue returns (often accompanied by a growling noise). I have just ordered the "stronger" GM valve (#26095470) and will be having it installed on Friday. I will let you know if it corrects the problem.
