Rear end???

I'm trying to figure out if something is wrong with my rear end or if it's a different type. I am totally ignorant of what or how it works but if I get stuck in mud or on ice only one tire spins and the other does not engage. If I launch really hard and it breaks traction or if I burn out it's always only one tire, it gets annoying lol. I have a 2001 2500 with a 6.0 that does not do the same thing, it seems like it is always locked in. I have been told that it is a posi ( not sure if that's true or not). I would just like for both tires to spin when I need them to. Any help or suggestions would be a great help and sorry if this is a dumb post

The G80 locker isn't impressive and it sounds like it broke.

I'd look for alternative aftermarket rebuild options though.

Thanks, who carries them? Is there some way to make the rear lock in so I can make sure it is broken or is it pretty much gone? Thanks
