ball joint grease

what is the best grease for ball joints on duramax trucks . thanks

You'll get a lot of opinions here, almost as bad as asking which engine oil to use.

I'll throw my two cents in - Mobil 1 synthetic grease. I use it for all the zerks.

2003 2500HD Duramax CC LongBed 4x4
Falken Rocky Mountain ATS2 245/75R16
200,000 miles on the stock injectors.
DSB'd: 2000 F250 Powerstroke ExtendedCab Shorty 4x4.

Any top name brand grease will do.


2009 GMC 2500HD SLE CC/SB 4x4 LMM
EFI Live, Edge Insight CTS, Flo~Pro 4" DP back exhaust w/muffler & stock trumpet tip, EGR disabled, Resonator delete plug, Alum. bleeder screw, WIF sensor delete plug, Fumoto oil drain valve, Pacer LED cab lights, GM dually light bar under tailgate, Footwell lights, Cobra 29 WXNWST CB radio, Wilson 2000 CB antenna, Kenwood speakers, GM chrome oval running boards, Bilstein 5100s, Michelin M/S2 on PY0 wheels, Rubber mud flaps, Curt class IV hitch

That is what I use as well. I like that it is red, makes it easy to see if you made a mess or if you have a leak.

2012- Denali HD 4x4 2500
Xpel clear bra, amp steps, Inyati Bedliner. Rancho RS5000 Steering Stabilizer-Rancho 9000XL Shocks
PPE PTO-front/rear/Allison covers with transynd and amsoil severe gear oil. Magna-flow DPF back exhaust.

If it says grease and is roughly the same type as whats been used in the past, its a whole lot better than no grease. Just make sure you clean the zerk before pumping in new grease. Most of the wear failures are from dirt and grit being pushed into the joint with the new grease.
