| that is nothing to worry about, after my jeep regear with locker and 500 miles the fluid was blackish green sludge and smelled gross. All gears have to break in. I was told that factory gears are not cut as aggressive plus use softer metal as compared to aftermarket ones that is why they don't require break in. Sounded good to me. I have seen guys break brand new aftermarket gears that didn't break them and just went out and flogged on them and boom!!!

| Changed mine after the first 600 miles of towing - milky gray - gear break in. Changed again a year later to put on a new diff cover and it was clean/clear.

| Buy four quarts and use about 3.75. I use Mobil One but it's just opinion.

| Sure thing, but I just realized yours is a 2012. I doubt the specs have changed but wanted to point out mine's an '04 so as not to mislead you.

| Since we are on the subject of rear ends I replaced my DS axle seal about a year ago and it is leaking again....... Could I have a bad bearing or a bad seal? sorry didnt mean to hijack the thread!!!!!! When I did change out mine last time I used royal purple Synthetic and when I checked the level when I saw i had a leak it still looked good with 35,000 ish miles on it.
