There's a rattle coming from the left rear of the truck and it's driving me insane! It's about 1-3 quick clunks when the truck goes over bumps sometimes. Speed doesn't seem to matter, it's the same at 5mph and 80 mph, and it's only on pothole type of things and not cracks in the freeway. I noticed it after I put a quieter exhaust on my truck (put the loud one back on right?? haha). It seems to sound like the sound is coming through the frame behind me to the left. Almost sounds like when my track bars were loose but they are very tight now. I installed drop shackles a month ago but the sound has only been there about a week.
Things I've tried/ruled out:
Braking does not change anything so I ruled out the caliper rattle issue.
Spare tire is very tight and secure.
Trac bars have decent preload and are far from loose so no slop.
Bolts are tight on new shocks and drop shackles.
Overload spring isolators are gone but I've replaced them with very thick and doubled up rubber bands and they don't touch the rest of the spring pack.
Hub caps are tight.
Exhaust isn't/can't touch anything.
Parking brake cable isn't hitting anything.
Fuel tank is secure and tight.
All body panels are tight.
Everything in the back seat area has been gone through and wiggled.
I've had people go under/around my truck, wiggle and kick everything even jump on the bumper hard while I sit in the cab and I can't get the noise to duplicate.
It almost sounds like there's a single marble in a can that only bounces on some bumps/potholes and the sound is going through the frame.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE THROW IDEAS OUT??????
