10.5" or 11.5" Rear Axle?

Hi all!

Okay, how do you tell what size the rear axle is?

It is a 2002 2500HD Duramax with axle rpo's GT4 & G80.

Left rear axle seal is leaking so I tried to order parts today from the DEALER, gave him the VIN and he asked ME what size the rear axle is... WHAT? If anyone should know, wouldn't it be the dealer?
Anyway, I need to know so if anyone can jump in here, I would appreciate it.

auto parts store should be able to help you with the spindle nut socket ~$20, They could probably get you the seal too for less than what the dealer wanted.

Hmmm, you got that right. I picked up two seals, axle gaskets, set of brake pads, and new park brake shoes. I'm a GM retiree and with my discount it still cost me $351.00.

That's a pretty hefty price tag...

I was told today that GM is also using brake pads named "DuraBond" for their service parts and they are supposed to be junk. I'm hoping the ones I bought are not DuraBonds...
