First time out with the revised setup and new tuning.
I was shooting for 580-600hp, and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks Rob And Dustin for being patient with me and sending me the stuff I needed. Also thanks to Cam Hulse for loading my tunes when he didn't know me from the man on the moon!
Some damn good numbers! How do you like that supermax. Sorry to derail but I'm In between that an 366 jus don't know which route I wanna go. Sound/ spool up wise how is it?
Don't get the supermax. It's slower to spool, has tremendous egt's and It's just not balanced well at all. (hence the thumbs down. ) If my stock turbo was worn out i'd get a 366. If i was just looking for lower egt's and more air i'd do a s480 compounded with the stocker. If you want to make 700+ hp I'd do a s483 billet over a s366. If you want a big single I'd do a s472... just my two bits.
Thanks man just looking to stay stock internals so i think a 366 will supply enough air for me then jus was curious on the supermax! Thanks for the info some awesome numbers as well!
Adrenaline in Shelley Idaho. (Cam Hulse's shop, not Rob Coddens.) They dyno was reading 20-40 horse high imo, cuz the spartan and H&S tuned 6.4's were making 600-615 on the 310 tune and one made 657 on the 350 tune.
Ah, the Adrenaline dyno day.
I don't like Motor Mayhem's dyno, I think it reads low. My truck has been on theirs twice now, and something just didn't seem right with my numbers. Of course them having me stopped on the back of the rollers causing vibration the whole run didn't help.
Jhill you going to make it out to bully dog days? It'd be fun to meet some guys from the forum. We should make a thread about it for all the north west guys.
Probably won't make Bully Dog Days. Got some summer traveling we are in the middle of now, and more to do in a couple months, so money is kinda tight on doing other extras like driving 3 hours to watch some dynos and drags. If it was in Gooding again like it was a couple years ago I would be more willing, cuz that's only an hour each direction.
Yeah, I know they are off some, but I just don't know how much. In all reality at the elevation i'm at, I would expect my real uncorrected numbers to be around 550hp. I actually have a time slip to back that number up.
Your time slip tells me you would make 700+ hp to the wheels on any given day, and I'll believe a 1320' over a dyno anyday. But i'll still take my good numbers.
Thanks Dustin, and thanks for being patient with me. It was worth it. It sounds like I may be doing a photoshoot in july for a later issue of diesel world. I'll make sure to drop your name if they do a write up.
I'll tell you what surprised the heck out of me was that I made 450HP on robs optimized stock tune! That was the highlight of my day! .....and watching Dmitri make 1800+hp
Sorry about the Audio/ Video quality. Let my buddy run the camera, and he wasn't very familiar with it, plus my son got ahold of it and smudged the crap out of the lense.
there are two runs in this video, the first is my stock tune, and the second is my race tune. Look how clean they both are! 450hp with absolutely zero smoke, and 665hp, with just a haze really!
