smoke tune

i saw people in another thread talking about this so i thought i'd ask a few questions for myself. what are the disadvantages of making one of these with efi live. if i got efi live i would like to make one of these but i want to make sure it wouldnt hurt anything before i tried it.

lots of fuel and money for a good showing. other than that adding fuel makes power and that is hard on your trans. all the soot will proably plug your egr also

so will this tune hurt my trans even if i only go for short distances and only do it every once in a while? also will it raise egt's

its hard to say if you build the tune and have limited knowlege there is no telling what may happed.

EGTs will be high. You have to build a tune with retarded timing and low boost. That will get you some smoke and keep the power levels down. I have a smoke tune that was built for my truck, but i have never run it.

o i wouldnt make the tune myself lol, i'd probably blow the engine up , i would find some one who knows what they are doing when i first get efi live

Ive got a smoke tune in right now and i still have my stock trans and its still holding strong.

you can add a smoke tune without realy adding HP but it will raise EGT's so a straight or bigger exhaust is needed..

a couple more questions, what kind of egt's would i need to expect and would a 5 inch cat back exhaust be enough? if not, i hear that the bd manifold would reduce my egts as well

A cat back system really isan't going to drop your egts much. If you are going to leave the cat IMO the bd manifold won't really help any.
