LBZ stock tunes vs LB7 Built Trans

Hey guys just wondering because my buddies are having a debate between what's gonna happen when we both have efi live. I realize that the LBZ is a better truck than the LB7, having around 55 HP more than the LB7 stock, but this one might be tough to judge. My friend has an LBZ with a stock motor, lift pump, and stock trans sitting on 35's with 20's. My truck is an LB7 with all of the same mods and a slightly bigger intake. However, I have a stage 5 trans and therefore can get the beefier built trans tune. Both trucks are tuned/being tuned by Idaho Rob. So the question is (theoretically speaking), would my buddies LBZ with stock tranny tunes be faster, or would my LB7 be faster with the built ones be faster?

Thanks, Cole

Only one way to find out, wait and see!!! I got my $ on the built trans truck with suitable tunes... And BTW there is no "better" truck... The LBZ may have more power stock but the LB7 is a great engine when built right.. Hell most of the record 1/4 mile trucks have LB7s... Good luck with the race

But are you sure? The reason I ask is because the stock efi live tune for an lbz is an estimated 150 extra, putting it at 515 as compared to the 200 plus extra estimated with an lb7 putting it at 505. Is my math wrong?

The Lbz is only around 300 rwhp putting that at around 450-460. The lb7 with a built trans and liftpump with robs max effort tune it will be around 530 rwhp

150 tune on lbz will make roughly 450rwhp. Both trucks turned up with lift pumps and trans will make around the 530 mark give or take depending on how healthy the fuel system is per truck.

Put it this way: about 30 of the top 50 fastest drag trucks (Duramax) in the world are LB7s.... The rest are a mix of LLY,LBZ,LMMs....
