i was thinking of selling the ppe for the efi live and there is a dealer around me that will sell me one for 750 with 5 tunes and dyno test if for me so it sounds good to me. i was wondering if they are easy to use with tunes on them already and if its easy to change settings. will i need a laptop for the efi itself or just to make a custome tune .

Yes you will need a laptop. To change tunes you do basically the same thing that you do with the PPE except you do it on a laptop. It is actually a little faster than with the PPE. Very easy to use if you already have some tunes made. I haven't gotten to the point of making my own tunes yet, but have done just fine learning my way around the system.

when changing tunes do you have to have the truck turned off and every thing off like the ppe.

Well right now on the LBZ you do, but they are working on fixing the handheld portion of it to work more like bully dog tripple dog. You will be able to load up to 5 tunes and switch it just by plugging in the V2 with no laptop and just push a button. It will be on the fly, but you will have to plug something in.

The handheld portion of the efi unit. It looks like a handheld tuner. Normally you plug it in and then you computer plugs into the unit. When they get done with the update you will have to initially load 5 tunes into your ecm with the V2 and laptop together and then to change tunes you will only need the v2.

the laptop is for data storage and creating the tunes for the most part right. with efi it can be put on almost any gm how does that work or have you not tried that.

Right now you still have to have the laptop for changing tunes also, but when they get done with all of updates then the laptop will mostly just be for the data storage, tune writing, and data logging. Once your tunes are loaded and you are statified with them you will only need the V2 to change tunes.
