I am looking at buying an 03 duramax with 75ooomiles.... the injectors were changed at 60kmiles. do they usually replace them with a same model of injectors?

also i have heard fuel pump problems with the duramax? any truth to that?

Have the dealer run a check for you to see how many were changed.

112K on my injectors. Good so far. I think its a hit or miss. Some have issues some don't.

Not to be a downer, but mine did not have any until 138k, and not it has 190K and been torn apart 3 times (once by me)!!

Mine was a dealer replacing one at a time!! So with the three changes only came 3 injectors. That means I have 5 in her that have 190k+ on them, so yes some are freaks!!!

is there an aftermarket update to the injectors or is just factory replacement?

You can get after market in different hp amounts. But they are all expensive, even stock ones.

The injectors you get from GM are supposed to be an updated version

They will still fail, they just do not fail as quick or often. All injectors will fail eventually, it is just the nature of the beast (no moving part will last forever)

My 03 had two sets of injectors before I bought it at 45K miles. I use to I have had it two years and it now has 88K on it. I use to run Diesel Kleen in every tank but changed to Amsoil last year and I did actually notice it run quieter with it. Now, the only "Issues" I have had are in the winter on the coldest of days IF and ONLY IF I neglect to add some for a tank or two I start to get some blue smoke at idle. However, once I pour more in the tank it clears up pretty quick. Kind of weird how it has worked for me. But, I also have hauled some pretty major heavy loads with this truck for MANY miles and running empty I have seen 24.5 mpg highway. ((6spd manual tranny, Banks 6-gun level 3))
