| What's the differences between LB7, LLY, LMM... What's the differences between LB7, LLY, LMM???? Always thought the engines were pretty much the same except it ran with a different computer type program and maybe something with the emissions??? Is there someone out there can tell me the differences. I got the 05 DMAX and I'm going to keep it but I'm thinking about picking up a 2nd one because my wife keeps taking my truck and has falling in love with it. (SORRY GUYS) so I told her it's mine but we can buy another one... USED though. Just wanting to know the differences. Going after a 2500HD crewcab 4x4 auto, havn't decided on shortbed or long. |

| there is a diffrence in power for everyyear. lb7 have injector issues, lly have overheating issues when pulling and lbz are great and lmm are good with a dpf delete kit. i think you will be most happy with an lbz even though i love my lly.

| LB7 is 300 hp (injector issues, but there are upgraded replacements;5 speed trans) LLY is 310 hp ( some over heating issues that upgrades can resolve, some say is a detuned LBZ;5 speed trans) LBZ is 360 hp (great and modded easily;6 speed trans) LMM is 365 hp (great, but has the dpf but mods bring out its true potential, pistons may not handle extreme hp very well 600+hp;6 speed trans)

| Man, im not sure. I dont recall hearing that but i think they are all very close. There is more whistle on the first 3 motors. Until mods, you cant hear much out of the LMM turbo. Maybe some of the more technical guys will chime in. Are you shopping around for one?{thread starter}

| So what do I need to do from my LLY to keep it from overheating when towing? Is there a tuner or what needs to be replaced? |

The mods i am aware of on the LLY are the LBZ mouth piece swap and although a little pricey, an upgraded intercooler is a good mod for the lly to help control temps. If it has an egr(cant remember if it does..i know the lb7 doesent) then deleteing that helps too because the coolant runs through the egr to cool the spent exhaust gasses before it is ran back into the engine. This is a good mod to do anyway to help keep the engine cleaner.
