front end noise

recently I have had a clunking noise in the front end I brought it back to the dealer and they said they could not find any thing wrong with it every thing was tight (ball joint , wheel Barings ect) noise is still persisting driving me nuts. Any ideas. I have checked the front end my self and not found any thing loose dealer is trying to say that it is the running boards now after my 2nd visit but they don't budge. Any ideas. Makes noise over little and big bumps. To me it sounds like ball joints since I had 2 go on my 2002. Truck has been greased every 5000 miles. Want to get it fixed before warrantee runs out

could be the intermediate steering shaft..

Also, do yoursefl a favor and actually check the wheel hubs yourself..it's easy. Just jack the front off the ground (you can do one side at a time) and try to rock the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock. If there is any movement...they are bad.

You will have to do some looking yourself because they will not find anything wrong with it until you are out of warranty..

bad shock...maybe. It shoudlnt take much to rock it. I know my nerf bars sometimes rattle...but most the rattle I hear is when i have ice built up on them.

check the bushings on the shock mounts. If they're worn down they will make all kinds of noise over bumps.

Check the four bolts that hold the crossmember under the oilpan. I took all four of mine out and reversed how they were installed and tightened them really good. No more noise. Mine sounded like a ball joint popping, now it is gone. hope this helps

Intermediate steering shaft.
I will put money on it.
The first time it happened on my 99 I swore it was a loose shock.
Had 4 replaced on the 99 and 2 on my 06 LLY.

I've got it on my '07, been there from day one new. I mentioned it in passing the other day while chatting with my GM bud. He rattled off something about a simple bolt fix or something, he said there's a TSB on it. Going in soon with that truck for some other warranty items, I'll have it fixed at that time and report back.

Your front end noise

Hey
Try Checking inside of truck, I have noise like you are saying
and found the steering colum under the dash there is tube
with white nylon bushing that the shaft goes thru, that bushing is loose in the tube. I have not fix mine yet working on my AC climate control problem. Maybe this will Help.
