| Calling all Gas Motor Techs My dad has a 1999 chevy 454, he is having a killer time starting it up..Sometimes it will start right up, and sometimes it takes 5-6 seconds of cranking before it starts up... and when it finally starts there is a small puff of blueish whiteish smoke comes from the tail pipe, and smells rich of gas. He just replaced the fuel pump, I belive he as also replaced the fuel pressure regulator. The odd thing is we also had a 1999 454 work truck for our company and it also had the exact same problem. Does anyone know of a common problem with this year model and engine type??
And yes, I already told him to get a D-Max, but he is sticking with the truck he has. And the D-Max is hard to find in a Suburban.
