Trader!!

So I'm sort of a trader...ish... My gf has been lookin for a cheap truck to haul her horse trailer around since my tired old '92 half ton won't pull it worth a sh!t. Well we found one on craigslist, a 95 3/4 ton with a big block and a 5 speed for $1300. Too good to be true right? Well it won't idle for anything. It starts up, runs, drives ok til you put the clutch in, then it dies.

But we bought it. So now I'm diving into the unknown, and going to be swappin parts, and wrenching on this thing til it runs good.

So yes, I'm sort of a trader. Bought another gasser. But for $1300 (we ended up knockin him down to $1100) I'll turn all the wrenches I have to to make that thing run good.

Bahahahaa IIRC you can get a dmax for 15k by the time you get one diesel will be $8 a gallon and a dmax will go for 5k!

No biggie... Try to get picks up of the truck! A 3/4 is definatly a step up from a 1/2. Your idle might just need raised on the 95. Could be simple.

Thats Ok I had a 95 GMC with the 454 and a five speed. I loved that truck. You might check the clutch switch on the pedal to verify it is working ok.That could be your problem.

What do you mean the clutch switch? Are you talking about like how the clutch has to be in to start it? If thats what you mean is seems to work ok. It won't crank unless the clutch is in.

I'm guna start with the basics and go from there.
Air filter
Plugs, Wires, cap & rotor,
check the egr valve etc.

Not to mention all the other stuff you do soon as you buy a used vehicle... all fluids & filters, grease it up, so on so on... It will be a fun project, and the TBI motors are pretty easy to work on. Tons of room in the engine compartment, and everything is easy to get to for the most part.
