| Help with subs/amp Long story short, my stereo was turned up way louder than it ever has been a few days ago, and the subs just cut out, so I figured the amp needed to cool down and was overloaded... Well they never started working again. I've checked everything... The amp is not in protect mode, no red lights on, no fuses blown on it or under the sah and hood. The one on the power wire from the battery is not blown either. All the wiring is tight and connected.. The subs are old but I doubt they would both blow at the same time, and even if they did wouldn't they still make noise and sound really bad and distorted? They won't even work at all...... HELP !!!

| I think the problem lies in your Amp... If your subs had power they would at least pop and crackle if they were blown. If your Amp has power then I would assume something internal is shorted out or blown.

| Well tonight I tried using another amp and it has power, green light on, and as soon as I touched one of the subs speaker wire to the amp, it worked/made noise for 1-2 seconds and then hasn't worked since... Any ideas?

| Sounds like the subs are shorting out the wires, and tripping the amp

| When you pull the subs out of the box make sure all the wiring inside the box is the way it's supposed to be before scrapping them.

| Two things to try. Hook a working speaker to the amp to see if you can get some sound. Second take a D cell battery and touch the speaker wires from the subs to either end of the battery. That would be one to the positive and one to the negative. If your subs are operational the speaker should push out or draw in. If they don't move the terminal wires in your speakers were probably stretched and shorted or you fused your speaker.
