| HID and radio reception Hey guys, Just got new HIDS in my truck lows and fogs. All of a sudden I am getting terrible radio reception. I can only get one radio station and its staticy. I talked to the guy at the shop who installed them and asked if I could possibly have a bad ground. He said its all plug n play stuff so he didnt ground it. Anyone have any ideas?

| What brand HID's are they? Shitty quality HID's will wreck your radio reception. If the ballasts are properly shielded, then you shouldnt have any problems. So basically, the problem is whatever brand HID's you have.......they arent shielded properly. Theres nothing you can do to "fix" it. Ben

| There race sport HIDS. Apparently they are supposed to be really good quality. I bought them off car teks a place by me. They said they started using them because of quality. What do you mean by properly shielded I dont really no anything about HIDS. I have heard they sell a relay that will reground the kit so help elimnate radio problems. Or get a different frequency ballast to change problem

| Supposedly really good quality HIDs are made overseas and don't import them into the US because of the laws around them (aftermarkets anyway). The ones made here in the US are not of high quality and getting interferrence from the ballasts of these US made units are a common problem. I was thinking of puting them in my truck and was doing some internet research on it and that is why I am staying with the Halogens. I don't want any unwanted gremlins that cost money.

| HID's have always given me issues with my Ham Radio until I did the following: 1) Make sure all of your HID's are run through a relay harness 2) Install some Ferrite Chokes on the ground wires of the HID's ![]() |

| My DDM tuning hid screw up my radio reception also. If i turn the hid on my fogs it gets worse. Its really annoying. At night i can't listen to my radio or driving into work in the dark early morning. |

| Xenon HID Conversion Kit Relay Wiring Harness H1 H8 H9 H11 9005 9006 9140 9145 | eBay One relay harness with do one beam (you will need two if you have HID's in your high beams and low beams...and a third relay if you have them in your fog lights) Not sure what year truck you have but make sure the harness you buy is compatible with the stock bulbs on your truck so they are just a plug and play deal. For example, my 02 uses 9006 and 9005's for the high/low beams so the above link will work. To figure out which bulb your truck has, you can use the below link https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...s/lrgmain.aspx |

| I highly doubt doing a relay is going to fix the problem. But you can try...
