Have SERVICE AIRBAG on display

Today the service airbag is on my display and won't go away. I have a Superchips Programmer that I use strictly to check the system if I have any problems. Well nothing comes up. But the Service Airbag comes across the screen on my display on the gauge cluster.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

You're going to have to get the codes checked. Could be anything from a clock spring issue to a seat belt buckle. The superchips you have must just read ecm data but not the airbag module.

tech 2 will have to read the air bag codes. GM Dealership in other words.

Could be front impact sensor under radiator brace (orange and yellow, and yes you only have one on your 05, only 03 came with right and left sensors) airbag module under, driver seat gone bad. Just have to tell from the code

Won't have to go to dealership. Any shop with a modis or another good scan tool can read the codes.

theres always one... Heres the problem with rambling off names of a snap on,mac, otc, whatever you wish and telling a person on a forum they can read the codes.

Not everybody is tech savy, not everybody uses those tools or are familiar with them.

Everybody is familiar with dealerships. If you wish to throw the name of "modis" out there at least explain to the op that it is a scan tool sold by snap on tool company. Instead of assuming he has a friend who is an excellent mechanic and has all the proper diagnosing equipment neccessary, if it was that easy, would one really go on a forum to ask about it instead of making a call to somebody they knew ?

Having the same problem with the 05 duramax I just got with 145k miles. Have read quite a few forums but havent found the problem. Code says replace front impact sensor 2 (although from what i read there is only one, on the right side) so i did that and cleared the code but it comes right back. All the connections under the seat and dash i have found are tight, all steering wheel controls work so i assume its not the clock spring.. Any other ideas or ways to trace down the wiring to find the real issue?

I had this issue when I got my '05 ccsb last month. From everything I read 8 out of 10 were bad impact sensors up front. But the only way to tell was through a scan from the dealer or a service shop that could read air bag codes. I checked with a friend of my dad who is a mech and he told me they could read it at the shop he worked at for $80. I called the dealership down the street, they read it for free and then ordered the sensor for me. I picked it up the next day and changed it. No more message. The head parts guy did tell me to check the wiring going to the sensor as it sometimes has an issue with rubbing if a tie lets go. Also told me if the code didn't clear the first time that sometimes it takes a couple starts before the code clears.

I just diagnosed a 'bad crash sensor' code last week, turned out the wires were broken under the rubber 'carpet' by left door jam/kick panel area. they come from under seat from the module and run along the jam under the plastic trim and almost do a 90* turn into the kick panel, thats also where dirt and moisture tend to collect it turns out...this truck was an 03 but pretty sure the wires are in same location from memory.

just remembered they also have a problem with wires rubbing fan shroud or rad. support area, thats prob. what ^^^^is talking about
