Also be aware the phone can and will slide on the charging pad and then stop charging. I finally wedged the phone on the pad to alleviate that. However it's slow charging therefore I always just use the 12v plug-in charger for fast charging.
My BIL just got a 2016 with this, and to me, it seems like a solution to a non existent problem. Would be smarter to have a place in the dash to hold the phone while being charged, or even make it visible for folks that use them for Nav.
I am kind of think that right now. In a week or 2, I am going to take this truck in for its first oil change and I have a few things for them to check including this.
It works, I have the same phone and a 2016 as well. But my case, is just a smidge wider than the alotted space and doesn't fit flat. If I take it out of the case and place it on there, it works. I've just found that it's easier to keep the USB tybe C cable plugged in all the time and charge it that way if I need to. Course that starts the Android Auto.
I agree with handirifle though. In my wife's Avalon Limited, it's up front in view of the driver, but her's doesn't work with a case on either...
Took our console lid apart and have the charger out. For trade for five factory tie downs. why the tie down option doesn't fill all nine holes is beyond me.
I have a Galaxy S6, and I added a wireless charger [regular charger] to the bottom of my 04 console tray. works great. Not real fast but keeps the phone charged.
I loved wireless charging on my older Windows phones. Now have an iphone and sometimes miss it. Having the wireless charger is ok, but if you are going to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto you have to have it plugged in anyway, right? It would be really convenient if those two services were also wireless. Then you could just sit your phone down and have everything connected.
