I've been kicking around upgrading my 06 Duramax LBZ. Considering 4" exhaust, PPE Standard...I'm super happy with power on truck, and like the tone of the stock exhaust AND I'm getting 19 plus on highway and 15 plus local. Reading forums here I'm seeing guys that have done upgrades that aren't getting any or much better. So....Do I leave it alone? Thanks for the help...
thanks, sometimes I wonder if it ain't broke....Just see lots of dough into performance upgrades and sometimes you read the results are not indicative of the investment.
As long as you do plenty of research and make an educated decision there is usually a pretty decent return on investment. Nothing you do to a vehicle is going to pay for itself, thats just the nature of the game, but it's usually the people who jump on the first tuner they see in a magazine ad who wind up regretting it, since they come here and find out that there are much better and much cheaper options.
A good quality tuner (like the ones you and I have been talking about) will provide both added mileage, and added power, and when used safely and not "abused" won't do any damage to the drivetrain.
Getting back to the exhaust upgrade, as it looks like it's a necessity...What is the difference between a "budget" exhaust and a more premium? When is the price point worth it between "aluminized" and stainless & is it more of a region/weather issue? I'm assuming the stock exhaust systems are aluminumized? Thanks
I would look at a mbrp or maby magnaflow...really cheap looks really cheap and doesn't last as long...a good aluminized should last 5+ years unless its gonna see alot of salt then stainless is probably a good idea plus it looks good stainless in my oppinion is more personal preference then necessity but it will last longer
