if your into this as a hobby or for fun or for daily use for work can make a big differance on the antenna youd want to get
will you be tuning your radio and antenna?
theres few options that will work great and proven daily by truckers
Monkey Made is a good choice for you if you wanna pull it out and run
BUT if your going to tune it then a WILSON 5000 by far ...
i have tryed both as so have few others who rely on there cbs still in town dispatchs for GM...
also one out there thats reccomended is a Francis there out of the box mount and go and cheaper.
hope this helps
BTW you can get a rf tuner at radio shack if you need one to tune your radio and antenna
DONT forget the beter your ground to the antenna the better they work !

then id say if your not going for distance where it matters go for what your wallet can afford and what suits your needs... also a wilson 2000 is good and people i know who drive truck say they got that on there personal vehicles its cheap and a throw on ...
at one time when my dad was alive i was huge into this , he used to tweak the guts to get max range like you wouldnt believe out of these ... but the old times are here and gone
glad i could throw my two cents out .... good luck !
