Trying to install a cb radio right now, but got a ??

The directions say to connect the red lead of the dc power cord to an accessory 12 volt fuse (fuse box).But can I run it straight to the battery?If it already came with a fuse in the line it should be ok right?Or can I use the same power source I used to connect my brake controller.The new LMM came with two stems under the fuse box to connect the brake controller.

If you run right to the battery it will be hot all the time not just when the key is turned, you'll have to shut it down each time, but it should be fine. Don't know about the brake controller

I hooked mine to the cigarette lighter...never had a problem with it. Id try to find something that has a constant 12v or higher. With some of the newer CB's on the market, you don't always get your peak wattage out of them unless you have 12v or higher. I've left mine on for days at a time and never had a problem.

I think I will just use the fuse box after all just becouse it's easier to run the wires.I'll go out there and try it.

i ran mine to the battery and it work great but i do get some alternator noise while accelerating

what amp fuse did you use 15?

no i just used the one that it came with

Yeah theres one on the "hot" wire but since I plugged it into the fuse box don't u need one there too?
