LMM Alternator ???

I have a 3100 watt stereo system in the d-max. Is there a dual alternator set-up for this beast? If not, can someone recommend me a set-up so my lights will stop dimming when this thing slams?

I already have a 600 farad capacitor.

Wow I didnt think you could get the dmax's lights to dim with the dual batteries!

If you get the snow plow prep package the truck would of had a dual alternator setup so they are out there! I know my buddy bought a dmax work truck and it had dual alternators. Im not sure how hard it would be to add 2 though. The mount for the alt should be there even though there isnt one. All you should have to do is wire it.

the block has a place for an extra alternator and bracket. the thing i am worried about is over-charging the system.

i wonder if the stock wiring can handle the extra amperage?

is there a regulator built in for this problem?

i have never heard of a 600 farad cap, i put stereos in all the time and i dont think i have seen one over 4. Another thing i have seen with GM is if you go to the little distribution block under the red plastic top for your power they will dim alot. The battery is terrible to hook up to but if you do hook directily to it, it will not dim as much, just a thought.

You could install another dedicated battery and an isolator for the tunes.

Scott, PPE also sells the dual alternator set-up. All Dmax's already have all the necessary mounting holes for the dual alternator, so technically you could piece it together. But the easier way, IMHO, is to get the kit.

Here's what PPE's website has to say about it:

"The Single Alternator Kit was specifically designed for 2001 through 2007 Duramax diesel engines and provides 145 amperes of electricity. This kit is great for running additional lights, winches and all extra accessories."

Huh I just looked on the site. I wonder why you need another belt and it says bracket as well? You think they would have it work with the factory equipment. I guess it makes sense.
