I don't mean to hijack this thread, so I'll put some input as well as ask my question:
Comment: I have a 2008 with bucket seats. I am mounting mine on the center panel below the heater/radio panel. I have a Siruis add-on unit mounted in the middle, and the cb is going to the left of that. The center panel has two bolts on the left side that hold it on, so it should be sturdy enough for my Cobra 25 LTD and the bigger Cobra 29.
Question: how have you all wired it? I can find plenty of wires to wire it directly to the battery, but want to wire into the ignition/accessory/delay circuit. I have tried to find a wire...no luck. I have looked at fuses, both by the door and under the hood. I can't find the right one. Someone has suggested the Airbag fuse, but it's got power all the time on my truck.
Cigarette lighter (power port) adapter, since I found them I don't bother trying to hard wire my cb's anymore. You should be able to find them at any truck stop or cb shop.

I want to hide the wires, and I want it to turn off when the radio turns off (when the key is turned off and the door is opened)

Careful on the amp draw, the cig lighter is only 10 amp, anyradio with anykind of power will pop it every time you talk in the mic!

I would find the "heater" a/c fuse and hardwire it there for it to turn on with the ignition, I like mine to stay on without the ignition, so I wire it to an auxiliary fuse. just make sure that whatever you wire it to has at least a 20amp fuse on it like mentioned before, or you will have shorted fuses...(it may even be advisable to add 5 amps to the fuse that you wire it to if it is something like the heater) But I am no expert with that, I am sure someone here would know though....

Actually, any legal CB is rated at 4 watts. Even if you do a mild tweak, it's only 8 watts. 8 watts divided by 12 volts is 0.66 amps. Not gonna pop a 10 amp fuse. My CB radio has an inline 3 amp fuse. It will blow first, and the 10 amp on the cig plug is plenty.
I'm running a Connex 3300HP w/ peak and tune right now with no problems, however I can say that hiding the wires would be difficult with a cig adapter.
