Finally installed my cb radio. The antenna mount that I wanted to buy is the one that goes in the stake hole in the bed of my truck so I don't have to drill any holes.I was just told that's not a good one becouse you can't ground it and I will get bad reception and cause damage to cb radio eventually. Is this true?Whats another option?
Diesel Guy, post some pictures of where you have the CB mounted please! I have been thinking about a CB and not sure were to place it.

I wired it and just sat in on thefloorboard for now.I am looking for the perfect mount.Might make something that bolts under the seats so I don't have to put holes in the dash but as soon as I mount it i'll take some pics

I still want my damn CB in my LTZ... I would have a awsome place if i got the damn LT package but I had to be a hot shot haha.
Anyone with a new LTZ have pics where to put it. I loved having my whip on the roof and mic hangin from my passenger's sun visor on a recoil. I miss it.
And mounting in my PA speakers again.. Would there be good room in the center console? Making a bracket to hold it facing up so you can just open the lid and have it there?
The only thing im not a fan of with the Chevy is LACK OF ROOM compared to my old Fords... Im sorry I said the F word but they have room.

That would be nice to put it in the very bottom center console. Their is even a 12v source there! Has anybody done this or know of any issues with this?

I haven't been able to check this due to PC problems.
This is exactly how I want to mount my radio. How did you mount the radio bracket to the lower panel? I was looking at mine again last night...I might be able to use self-tapping screws like I did on one of my old trucks. Your setup looks great! Thanks to all of you for the input! As soon as I get this sorted out I get some pics up. I'll also be looking for a CB guru in the Riverside, CA area that may be able to do a tweak and peak.

Theres a place off of the 10 fwy and Milliken exit. It's next to the TA truck stop. It's called "The cb shop"

your grantxl is easy to work on. You can do it yourself and save some $$$. Do you have a watt meter? I can tell you how and what to peak... takes only a few mins. If you want to add channels or unlock the clarifier and such, that takes a little longer.
If you aren't running an amplifier, just cut r131, set VR10 until you see 8 watts dead key, turn VR11 all the way up clockwise, tune L37 and L38 for max swing while whistling or going "AHHHHHHHHH" into the mic.
Especially since you are running a D104, do NOT follow any directions for modifying or removing TR24 or (Q24 on your chassis I think) or changing R124 or R126... you will need to turn that mic down to almost nothing, and it will still pick up a gnat farting in the car next to you as well as wind noise like mad.
If you don't want to go through what I described, then just cut R131 and turn VR11 up to max and be done.
Enjoy :-)
