CB radio mounts?

New guy with a question, here. Curious to see how anyone has mounted a full size CB in a 2006 GMC 2500HD. In my old half ton I had to make a console for the radio, but it looked like crap. I'd like to keep it clean. Is it possible to mount directly under the dash, or is a pedestal floor mount necessary. Also, what kind of antenna mounts would be recommended? Again, I still have the mag mount from the half ton, but I want to keep it clean. I've got a 3' Firestik, just not sure how to piece this all together.

On a side note...I've got a 2006 GMC 2500HD, 6.6 LBZ, Allison, CrewCab, 4X4...pulls a 30ft. Vortex toyhauler with the quads in it. Just found this site recently. I don't usually frequent forums because of time constraints (job, wife, kids), but I'm hoping to make my rig just a little more me, if you know what I mean.

Welcome to the forum!!!

Do you have a center console? I dont have one but my buddy has a 05 and he has his mounted on the center console passenger side at a angle towards the driver. I was gonna put mine in the hole in the center console below the radio. Ill have to check, we both got mounts that go under the hood and the antenna mounts on the wiper cowl opposite of the stock antenna. It looks really clean! You can also get a mount and put it in the bed.

Putting it in the bed would make it really "sleeper/clean", ppl would have no idea it was even there... that what i was going to do when i get one...

Won't do much for your reception down low.

Optimum reception is dead center of the cab roof, but that has problems of its own. Down low behind the cab will limit transmission forward, but will work.

Exactly, that's why I would look at a magnetic rooftop mount. Pull it out and slap it on top when you need it.

The cord had enough slack (it was zip tied in a ball) that i could do that... it was a huge magnetic one that was slapped on the inside of my bed cuz it slapped everything i went under.. lol it got annoying when ppl would star at me like i was an idiot. lol

i had one in my half ton. i mounted it in the overhead consule. i had to do some modifying to but it looked clean. had took two 6' antennas mounted in the box about a foot down from the top of the bed. i only hooked one antenna up though. reception was great, never had a problem with it.
