5th Wheel pin weight

Does anyone know what the max 5th wheel pin weight is on my new 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 6.6L Duramax/Allison Standard Bed? Thanks.

Yes.

Check your tire and loading information, look for the max "payload" On the door or door jam.

IIRC for a crew cab short bed 4x4 dmax it will be around 22-2400 lbs.

You can go above that, but make sure to have airbags of some sort. GVW as well.

Thanks for the reply. The numbers off the door on my truck are: GVWR 10,000LB; GAWR FRT 5,200LB; GAWR RR 6,200LB. All this GV and GA stuff just confuses the life out of me. I was thinking that the new 11's could handle a little more weight in the rear due to changes in frame construction. My fiver has a pin weight of 2,660LB and when hooked up to the new 2500HD it doesn't drop the rear any more than our 2002 3500HD Dually did or about 3.5 inches. Thanks again.

X2 on Hondarider 552 reply. Your truck weight is probably about 7500 lbs with a fifth wheel hitch in it and a full tank of fuel.

Just to give you information on rear drop - my 2011 3500HD SRW drops about 2 inches with the air bags initially at 8 lbs. I put 50 lbs in the bags to recover most of the drop. The air bags are easy to install and they will improve the ride too. I installed Air Lift 5000 on mine. I took my truck to a local transfer station and the weight is about 8000 lbs with the fifth wheel hitch in it and a full tank of fuel.

My additions; Bed Rug bed liner, Luverne SS running boards, Air Lift air bags, Handy fifth wheel tail gate, GM rear wheel liners, GM rear seat storage tray.

You will be fine, the only time I went above the gross rear axle rating was with a pin weight of 3200 lbs. Your dmax can hold amost 200 more lbs more than the previous year trucks. Im not worried about going over the GVWR as much as I would be about the axle ratings.

I finally found the section in my owners manual where it states Max Fifth Wheel Tongue Weight is 2,500lb. Seems like I should be Ok with only 160lb over that?
